He has been also invited professor at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (Germany), Opole University of Technology (Poland), Koçaeli University (Turkey), Keimyung University (South Korea), University of Sarajevo (Bosnia-Herzegovina), and Universidad de la República (Uruguay).

    Maria Gianni

    Maria Gianni holds a Ph.D. in Operations Management from the Department of Business Administration at the University of Macedonia, Greece. She holds a Diploma in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Production Systems Management from the Polytechnic School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She is currently a post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Business Administration at the University of Macedonia. Her post-doctoral research proposal is entitled “The impact of lean management and digital transformation, in the context of Industry 4.0, on the sustainability of organisations”.

    She started her career as a purchasing and quality control manager. She has experience in collaboration with research institutes in EU research projects. As a freelance chemical engineer, she specialised in water quality monitoring, wastewater treatment and environmental management systems.

    On the academic side, she has taught courses in quality management at the University of Western Macedonia and at the Democritus University of Thrace. She is currently working as an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Macedonia. Her research interests include sustainability, total quality management, human resource management, integrated management systems and management system standards. She has participated in a number of conferences and co-authored several research papers and book chapters.

    She serves as a reviewer for the following peer-reviewed scientific journals: Journal of Cleaner Production, Total Quality Management and Business Excellence, Sustainability, Journal of Industrial Ecology, International Journal of Quality and Reliability Management, Organisational Psychology. She is also Special Issue Editor for the Sustainability journal.

    Anastasia Blouchoutzi

    Anastasia Blouchoutzi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of International and European Studies at the University of Macedonia. Dr. Blouchoutzi holds a BA in International and European Studies, an MSc in International Economics and a PhD in the Economics of International Migration. Her research interests include the Economics of International Migration, Labour Economics, Migration and Integration Policies. Anastasia teaches relevant courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. She has published in international peer-reviewed journals and has participated in international peer-reviewed conferences about issues related to the above mentioned research fields. Anastasia has considerable research experience in various Greek and EU-funded projects about migration, sustainability, digital transformation and social entrepreuneurship. She speaks five languages and she has more than ten years’ experience in project management.

    Dimitra Manou

    Dimitra Manou is a Senior Researcher and Teaching Staff at the School of Law, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She holds a Degree in Law, a Msc. in International Studies and a PhD in Legal Studies (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). After her PhD she worked as a post-doctorate fellow at the Faculty of Law, Universite Catholique de Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium with a research focus on international environmental law and biodiversity law. She has been working as a researcher in many multidisciplinary FP6, FP7, Horizon2020 and Erasmus Plus EU funded projects and participates in COST actions with main focus on sustainable development. In the past she was awarded a Marie Curie fellowship (IVM, Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam) and was also a pro bono fellow at the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law (McGill University, Montreal). Her research interests include sustainable development, international environmental law and governance.

      Sofia Gkarane

      Sofia Gkarane holds a PhD in Tourism Marketing from the Department of Business Administration at University of Macedonia. She also holds a Master in Business Administration and a Bachelor Degree in International Economics from University of Macedonia. She is currently a post- doctoral researcher at the Department of Business Administration at the University of Macedonia. Her post-doctoral research proposal is entitled “Cultural Heritage and Seasonality: Enhancing Sustainable Marine Tourism in Greece”.

      Her research interests include tourism management, event management, tourism seasonality, sports marketing and international marketing.  She has participated in a number of conferences and co-authored several research papers and book chapters.
      She brings over 12 years of extensive experience in international business, specializing in product exports to a diverse range of global markets, including Asia, the Balkans, Europe, and the Middle East.She actively contributes as a researcher in EU-funded research projects and also holds a position as a lecturer at NYC.

      Jason Papathanasiou

      Jason Papathanasiou is a Professor at the Department of Business Administration, University of Macedonia, Greece. He holds a PhD in Operational Research and a degree in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has worked for a number of years at various institutes and has organized and participated in many international scientific conferences and workshops. He has published papers in international scientific peer referred journals like the Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, Environmental Modelling & Software, Regional Studies, European Journal of Operational Research, PNAS, Fuzzy sets and Systems, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, and has edited or authored a number of books. He has coordinated, reviewed proposals and participated in many research projects in FP6, FP7, Horizon 2020, Erasmus+, Interreg and COST; he was also a member of the TDP Panel of COST. He is a member of the coordination board of the Euro Working Group on Decision Support Systems. His research interests include Decision Support Systems, Operational Research and Multicriteria Decision Making.


      Stefano Armenia

      Stefano Armenia is a Research Fellow at the Link Campus University in Rome, Italy. He has a degree in Computer Engineering, Industrial Automation & Control Systems, a Ph.D. in Business Engineering and a Master in Management and Business Administration. His research interests deal with the analysis of complex systems dynamics in many fields, including logistics and transportation, innovative finance and technological innovation, policy modeling, and assessment of the impacts of new technologies on organizational processes.

      Camillo Carlini

      Camillo Carlini is a Research Fellow in the Analysis of Dynamical Systems at the Center for Cyber Intelligence and Information Security, “Sapienza” University of Rome. He has his degree in Informatics for Management from the University of Bologna. Master’s Degree in Computer Science always at University of Bologna. He participated in research projects at national and international levels, like the CRISADMIN project and the ATTACS project. His research interests deal with the analysis of complex systems dynamics in many fields with a specific focus on Security & Defence related problems.

      Eduardo Franco

      Eduardo Franco is a Research Fellow in Complex Systems analysis and Modelling and Simulation at the University of Sâo Paulo, where he investigates several challenges and problems pertaining to many fields (including sustainability, consumption, and production systems). He has a degree in Electrical Engineering, M.Sc. in Computer Engineering, and a double Ph.D. in Computer Engineering and OR. Previously, Eduardo was a visiting researcher at Sapienza University of Rome (IT), Wageningen University & Research (NL), and Nova University Lisbon (PT).

      Marta Alberelli

      Marta Alberelli is one of the latest resources to join SYDIC in the field of dissemination and communication. She graduated in Languages and Intercultural Translation from the University Roma Tre in Rome. Currently, she works as a social media manager for SYDIC and she manages the communication aspect of some European projects.

      An Taisce

      Cathy Baxter has worked in environmental education, behaviour change and sustainability for over 18 years. She is currently the Director of the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce, leading the team of 90 staff delivering a wide range of national and international programmes. She is highly experienced in project management, building teams, leadership and programme development”.

      Deirdre O’Carroll

      “Deirdre O’Carroll Holds Masters Degrees in Sustainability and Climate Change. Has worked in environmental education for eighteen years with an extensive background in supporting communities and groups to practice sustainability and to collaborate on projects to build community cohesion, reduce environmental impacts and enhance biodiversity”. She currently works for An Taisce The National Trust for Ireland.

      Grigoris Zarotiadis

      Grigoris Zarotiadis was born on the 23rd of February 1972 in Thessaloniki. He studied economics in Johannes Kepler University of Linz – Austria. During his PhD he spent a year in UMIST (University of Manchester – Institute for Science and Technology). Currently, he serves as a Full Professor in the School of Economic and he is the Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Political Sciences in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh). He is the President of the Association of Economic Universities of South and Eastern Europe and the Black Sea Region ( and of the Institute for Social Studies “Dimitris Mpatsis” ( Besides, he is chairing the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Black Sea and Mediterranean Studies ( and the newly established Center for Social Research in AUTh. He is a member of the Leadership Council of SDSN Black Sea ( His research covers the fields of international economics, economic development and economic growth, having a plentiful record of international academic publications and relevant citations. Since 2000, he is an Independent, Non – Executive Member of the Board of DROMEAS S.A.

      Styliani Karra

      Dr. Styliani Karra is a project manager at Center of Social Innovation and a part-time Lecturer at University of Nicosia. She obtained her BEng and MSc in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, and Environmental Technology and did her PhD on Urban Air Quality applied environmental fluid mechanics approaches (experimentally and field work) at UCL, University College London.  

      She applies physics-based approaches to projects in higher education and research that try to address threats of air pollution on the environment and public health and implement sustainable solutions. She previously taught at the University of Cyprus and the Cyprus University of Technology on environmental fields and participated in field campaigns and projects on Air Quality in London, India, and Cyprus.  

      Currently, Styliani manages EU-funded projects (Erasmus+ KA2) promoting environmental and educational awareness and the impacts of climate change and the inter-linked between obesity and climate changes in primary and secondary schools through an online educational learning and gaming approach.  

      - Fabián Gómez Gutierrez

      President of Asociación Valencia Inno Hub, holding Degree in Business Administration and master’s in strategic Consulting from the University of Valencia, with 20-year experience in internationalization of company’s field and a solid background as business administrator and leader with excellent skills in managing and coordinating. He took part and managed the development and implementation of innovative vocational training methodology, training courses and different innovative educational activities. Additionally, he’s an experienced mentor and trainer working as a professor in the prestigious MBA Global business, in INEDE business school belonging to the Catholic University of Valencia. Fabián owns entrepreneurial skills, with preference for start-up phase of the projects or new businesses. He has excellent capabilities in supporting entrepreneurs in their sustainable business development.

      Aleksandra Staszynska Rutkowska

      General secretary and project director in Asociación Valencia Inno Hub. She holds a bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication and master’s degree on Innovative Business Creation and Management. She is an expert in innovative solutions for internationalization, business, and career counselling. She has participated in entrepreneurial business development and promotion, working with local and regional organizations supporting the active promotion of groups and individuals, also facing social exclusion. Aleksandra is an expert for design and implementation of EU funded programs with more than 10 years. She acted as trainer, researcher, coordinated the projects and were involve innovative training methods development and implementation. She also has previous experience as website developer, graphic designer, audio visual content and social media communication developer.

      Laura Sánchez Conca

      Project manager in Asociación Valencia Inno Hub. She holds a degree in Translation and Interlinguistic Mediation, is an expert in direct translation from English into Spanish and has intermediate knowledge of Italian. She has a Master’s degree in Audiovisual Translation and specialises in translation for dubbing, subtitling, subtitling for the deaf and audio description. She has participated and acted as a project manager for EU funded programs, managing and developing a good plan and proper execution in order to execute the project creation process and meet the project objectives. In addition, Laura has experience managing projects whose key components and approaches focus on sustainability, thus focusing on strategies that introduce sustainable principles into our society.

      Uxue Arregui

      Project manager at Inno Hub, holds a degree in Business Administration and Management, complemented by a Master’s in Marketing and Market Research with a specialization in communication. With a strong background in project management, quality assurance, and communication, her expertise lies in organizational, analytical, and research skills, essential for successful project execution and dissemination within the Erasmus+ framework. She excels in spotting innovative opportunities, utilizing modern research methods and impactful communication strategies to maximize project effectiveness.
